Road to Wisconsin Dells: Leadership Institute for Self-Advocates is a week-long, in-person program for Spanish-speaking self-advocates with developmental disabilities.

This program is part of a two-part experience. Participants selected for the Leadership Institute in May are expected to continue in October to complete the full program, including preparation and participation in the Wisconsin Self-Determination Conference at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells (October 19–21, 2026).

Throughout the week, participants will practice organizing their ideas, creating simple visual supports, and speaking as part of a team. They will build confidence and leadership skills through hands-on activities designed to prepare them for a meaningful presentation experience.

By the end of the program, participants will be ready to represent the Latino community as presenters at this statewide conference, which brings together individuals with disabilities, families, caregivers, and professionals to support self-determination and independence.

The Leadership Institute will be offered entirely in Spanish.
